To reach artist point follow the hordes of people through the large parking area, down a few cement steps, and veer left out to the point. The trail continues just past the large parking lot for artist point.

Up top, you will have choices to hike on multiple paths, like chain lakes and ptarmigan and other day hikes with mountain views. The unique combination of the canyon walls with it's yellow rocks, the wonderful lower falls, and the green trees around, is simply spectaclar!

The views don't get much better from elsewhere, and the hike is so short that there is no need to take a shortcut on the way back. Here the canyon is approximately 900 feet deep and over 1,500 feet across.

Uncle tom's trail descends the rocky cliffs of the grand canyon to a lookout platform that is a great place to grab some photos, have a snack, or just take in the mighty roar of the massive lower falls. South rim drive begins 2.3 miles (3.7 km) south of canyon junction and leads you to views of upper falls at upper falls viewpoints and. It's wonderful to experience the old road. It’s a short 1/10th mile walk on a paved trail from the south rim drive.
